Businessman and opposition figure Jimi Wanjigi has publicly accused President William Ruto of being directly responsible for the illegal abductions of Gen Z protesters involved in the recent Maandamano demonstrations in Nairobi. Wanjigi’s explosive allegations are the latest in a series of high-stakes political dramas unfolding in Kenya.

During a press conference on Monday, Wanjigi did not mince words as he condemned what he described as a “systematic crackdown” on young activists. According to Wanjigi, President Ruto’s administration has been orchestrating a series of unlawful detentions aimed at intimidating and silencing those who took part in the Maandamano and other recent protests.

“President Ruto must be held accountable for these heinous acts,” Wanjigi declared. “These abductions are not only illegal but a blatant abuse of power. It is clear that the administration is trying to suppress dissent and silence the voices of the youth who are merely exercising their democratic rights.”

Wanjigi’s accusations are supported by numerous reports from activists and human rights organizations who claim that several young protesters have been forcibly taken from their homes and subjected to unlawful detention. Despite these claims, the government has yet to provide a clear response or offer any explanation regarding the whereabouts of those missing.

In his call to action, Wanjigi demanded the unconditional release of all detained individuals, urging both local and international communities to apply pressure on the Kenyan government to address these allegations. “The world is watching,” he said. “We cannot allow this blatant abuse of power to go unchallenged. It is our duty to ensure that justice prevails.”

The pressure is now on President Ruto’s administration to respond to these serious charges and address the growing concerns over human rights abuses. As the situation develops, many are closely watching how this high-profile clash will influence the political landscape in Kenya.
