Kenyan media personality Janet Mbugua recently shared a worrying update with her followers, revealing that her entire family had fallen ill and been hospitalized.
Janet, who is a well-known TV presenter, said that she had to cancel her planned trip to the United States because of the sudden illness.
This was especially disappointing for Janet, as she was supposed to attend the prestigious SXSW Conference and Festivals.
In a heartfelt post shared on social media, Janet explained how everything had been going well, with her planning her work and travel when “out of nowhere, a COVID-like sickness struck.”
She described how her entire family became sick all at once, leaving her feeling confused and regretful, especially since she had to cancel important opportunities.
Janet said that this was the first time she had fallen so ill since 2011, but she emphasized that she was not looking for sympathy.
She expressed understanding and patience, admitting that this situation was out of her control.
She also shared that she would need to rest for a week to recover, missing her commitments, including her show Fixing the Nation on NTV Kenya.
She used this opportunity to remind her followers about the importance of safety measures in the current health situation.
Janet urged Kenyans to wear masks, especially in crowded spaces. She warned that the virus is still very dangerous, and many people are seriously ill right now.
While talking about her health, Janet also took a moment to celebrate her recent achievements.
She mentioned being listed in LinkedIn’s Womenās Day week celebrations and celebrated her Fixing the Nation show, which had just turned one month old.
Janet ended her message by calling for more awareness around serious issues like femicide, a problem that continues to affect many women in Kenya.
Fans and followers quickly flooded her social media with messages of support, wishing her a speedy recovery. Many people expressed their concern and sent their healing prayers, hoping she would feel better soon.
