Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u has swiftly denied reports that he attempted to submit a resignation letter to President William Ruto.
The reports claimed that Prof Ndung’u complained about not being fully involved in crucial decisions regarding his ministry, such as the implementation of tax-related policies.
The CS said he was not planning to leave office revealing those report emerged from people not close to him.
“I have never done that. I have never thought about it. I am surprised that this is coming from people who don’t know me at all!” Prof Ndung’u said in a statement.
This comes a day after Treasury revealed the government would end G2G oil deal.
In the past year, President Ruto’s government has faced criticism for persistently increasing taxes, especially among formally employed workers.
President Ruto last year scolded some Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries who he said have scanty information about the dockets they hold.
Ruto who spoke during the signing of performance contracts at State House said some of the CSs and PSs are clueless about what is happening in their respective departments and ministries.
