Former Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has said the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance Camp will not allow President William Ruto and his government to brand Kikuyu youths as Mungiki.
In a presser by the Azimio Camp on Monday, Wamalwa said the issue of the resurgence of the criminal gang is not an issue for the Kikuyu Community or the Central Region, but a national issue.
He added that the Azimio camp will stand in unity with the youths from Mt Kenya Region and any plans to brand them as Mungiki.
“This issue of Mungiki is not a Kikuyu or Mt Kenya issue, this is a national issue, a Kenyan issue and we are here to stand in solidarity with the Mount Kenya leadership to say no to the Kenya Kwanza regime, and their nefarious scheme of branding the Kikuyu youth Mungiki, of using the Mungiki name to bring repression in the mountain to forestall an open rebellion that is coming,” said the Democratic Aaction Party of Kenya leader.
Wamalwa’s remarks were echoed by the former Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi who claimed that the government is branding the youths as Mungiki and drunkards since it wants to ‘eat them,’ urging the international Community to be on the look out over extra-judicial killings.
Few days ago, the Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki and the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said anyone found in support of the resurgence of the criminal gang will be dealt with ruthlessly.
