Lyton Nansubuga, a vibrant and promising young student at Mukono High School in Uganda, was eagerly looking forward to celebrating her birthday on September 1. The Form Four student had made plans to mark her special day, even going as far as organising a photoshoot to capture the moments. Tragically, however, she did not live to see the day she had been so excited about.

On the eve of her birthday, Lyton was involved in a fatal accident at Ewantoni stage as she was returning home from her birthday photoshoot. A vehicle struck her down, cutting short the life of a girl who was just beginning to blossom. The news of her sudden death sent shockwaves through her community, leaving her family, friends, and schoolmates in deep mourning.

Lyton was known for her bright personality and her love for football, particularly as an ardent supporter of Arsenal. Her untimely death not only left a void in the hearts of those who knew her but also a stark reminder of how fleeting life can be.

During her burial, an emotionally charged scene unfolded as mourners came together to bid her farewell. The grief was palpable, but amid the tears, there was a touching moment that spoke volumes about the love Lyton had inspired in her short life. In a powerful gesture, her family and friends paused the funeral proceedings to sing her a birthday song.

It was a poignant tribute to the girl whose life had ended so abruptly, a final act of love for a young soul who would never get to blow out her birthday candles.
