American internet sensation and Twitch star IShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr., caused a stir in Nairobi during his highly anticipated Kenya leg of the “Speed Does Africa” tour. Fans lined the streets and flocked online to catch the energetic streamer in action, as he explored Nairobi’s culture, wildlife, and nightlife.

From the moment he touched down, IShowSpeed was greeted with an enthusiastic reception, including a personal welcome from President William Ruto. His whirlwind schedule included visiting Upper Hill School, where he interacted with students and even played rugby, touring Nairobi National Park, feeding animals, sampling local delicacies like nyama choma and ugali, and taking fans for a ride in one of Nairobi’s customized matatus.

However, the excitement took a tense turn during the adrenaline-filled segments of the livestream. Slipz, IShowSpeed’s loyal cameraman and content manager, sustained injuries while filming high-speed rally car sequences and a helicopter ride. Posting from the hospital, Slipz reassured fans that the injuries were temporary, explaining that he suffered nerve and disc damage on his left side and internal bruising, but no permanent damage. He added that despite the setback, he would continue to support the streams behind the scenes.

“I’m just a little handicapped physically temporarily. The goal is to show the world. Nothing stops us,” Slipz wrote, highlighting his dedication to the team and the fans.

IShowSpeed expressed gratitude for the energy and support he received in Nairobi, celebrating the milestone of hitting 48 million YouTube subscribers and gaining over 360,000 new followers during his stay. He called Kenya his favorite stop on the African tour and hinted at a possible return, leaving fans eager for more adventures from the viral content creator.

Despite the scare, the tour demonstrated the resilience and passion of both the streamer and his team, proving that even unexpected challenges can’t stop a true digital superstar.
