Intelligence reports are not out on who threw teargas at school children in the Wednesday’s much heated demos in Nairobi in some parts of the country coming only few hours after the United Nations condemned the act and excessive use of force by the police on unarmed civilians during demos.
The lobbying of Teargas canisters at New Kihumbuini Primary School during the protests against the high cost of living had attracted criticisms and now intelligence reports reveals that the police did not fire the Teargas inside the school but outside the school.
The intelligence reports reveals that a ‘naughty’ person had picked the teargass canisters and threw it in the school.
“we have information that the teargas canister was not lobbed into the school, but outside…some naughty person decided to pick it and throw it into the school compound,” Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu who had visited the school is quoted saying.
It is reported that On Friday, 495 children out of the 2,333 were not in school.
