David Murathe, once a central figure in Kenya’s political scene as the Jubilee Party Vice Chairperson, has experienced a significant shift in his career.

Known for his strong opposition to Deputy President William Ruto, Murathe made headlines with his “Stop Ruto Movement” and later resigned from his position in 2021.

He claimed his main mission driving out Ruto allies from Jubilee was successful, and he planned to exit the party while leaving behind a politically altered landscape.

Murathe’s current activities revolve around advising and occasionally making controversial public statements.

Despite stepping down from his leadership role in Jubilee, he remained a vocal figure, often criticizing the political direction of Kenya’s leadership.

His departure from Jubilee and his remarks have influenced political discussions, particularly in relation to the Mt. Kenya region’s shifting loyalties.

Additionally, Murathe has found himself involved in legal controversies, including a summons from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over his alleged ties to land deals linked to former politician Cyrus Jirongo.

Despite these challenges, he remains an active and polarizing figure in Kenya’s political circles.

While his political influence has waned since the 2022 election, Murathe’s past and present continue to intrigue observers, and his future plans remain uncertain as he navigates his next steps in Kenya’s political and business arenas.
