Last week, Maloko show host, Chito Ndhlovu started a three-part series on his #AskChito segment where he tackled the three types of safety that serves as a foundation of any relationship.
He went ahead to dissect the importance of physical safety. He basically talked about physical abuse and letting anger come in between you and your lover.
He insisted on the need to ensure that your bae feels physically safe with you.
Today, Chito is tackling emotional safety as one of the foundations for a great relationship.
“Emotional safety is quite important yet very underestimated. It simply means that the person you are dating will always feel safe telling you stuff, they won’t feel judged and they won’t feel looked down on.” Said Chito.
Chito says it helps that person know that you have their best emotional interest at heart.
He says growing up, he noticed that you could never pin his parents against each other thanks to the emotional safety they both share.
Emotional safety helps you share those things that you feel uncomfortable to share with your partner. It also helps your relationship gain confidence, your relationship needs that safety to survive.
