Former Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has publicly addressed rumors alleging that he is a deadbeat dad. In a recent interview on the Iko Nini podcast, he firmly stated that he takes full responsibility for his children, regardless of the circumstances of their birth.

Wamalwa responded to claims made by a woman who alleged that he had abandoned her and their child, born in 2003. The woman, whose message was shared by renowned blogger Cyprian Nyakundi, expressed her struggles as a single mother. Wamalwa clarified that he had met both the woman and the young man claiming to be his son. During their meeting, they discussed the possibility of a DNA test, with Wamalwa expressing his willingness to support the young man if he is indeed his son.

Emphasizing the importance of familial responsibility, Wamalwa noted that in his community, men are expected to care for their children, regardless of whether they were born within or outside of marriage. He expressed disappointment over the rumors that he refused to pay for the child’s education, stating, “ The story that came out that I am a deadbeat dad and I refuse to pay fees is not true.”

Wamalwa’s commitment to fatherhood is clear in his statements. He stated, “ Where I come from, if you have children outside wedlock, they are your children. You treat them equally with children in the home.” He believes in the importance of treating all children fairly, highlighting his dedication to resolving any issues amicably.

Eugene Wamalwa has categorically denied the accusations of being a deadbeat dad, reaffirming his commitment to his familial responsibilities and expressing a willingness to support his children fully.
