Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Interior Professor Kithure Kindiki made history on Wednesday after he became the first Cabinet Secretary to appear before the National Assembly to answer questions from Members of Parliament.
However, the vocal lawmaker caught many by surprise after hitting CS Kithure Kindiki with tough questions, wanting him to come clean on whether he is aligned with President William Samoei Ruto’s agenda of digitalization of government services.
This comes after the soft-spoken CS was asked to explain why the process of printing and processing passports has been facing challenges and taking too long.
Kindiki in his response complained about the low staff in the immigration department responsible for passports and technical problems associated with the printing machines and relevant material such as printing books.
On his hand, Kikuyu constituency Member of Parliament wanted Kithure Kindiki to come clean if he was aligned with President William Ruto’s policy of digitalization of government services such as issuing and applications of passports or if he was still relying on beurocracy methods where majority of work is done by individuals.
“CS you must tell us where do you sit are you aligned to President agenda to digitize or are not. It is that simple cabinet Secretary” Ichungwah asked.
