The Majority leader in the National Assembly Kimani Ichung’wah has slammed the Chief Justice Martha Koome over her Friday remarks against President William Ruto.

In a press conference, Koome, without mentioning names, told those people claiming there are corrupt judges to present evidence before the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), and not continue making blanket statements.

She added that JSC is ready to deal with any corrupt judicial officer, adding that days are gone when judges were hounded out of office though name calling and name shaming.

Speaking on Sunday in Elgeyo Marakwet during a church service graced by President Ruto, Ichung’wah told Koome to tell Kenyans the truth on the number of petitions and complaints tabled before JSC against corrupt judges.

“I heard the CJ telling us if we have issues with judicial officers, we know where to take them. Yes Madam CJ, we know. But as the Head of the third arm of government, you have hundreds of petitions, memoranda and complaints today before JSC, yet you have done nothing to deal with those memoranda against the judicial officers mentioned.”

“Before you ask us as leaders, who are only representing the views of the people to bring more complaints and petitions, please deal with those already before JSC and also before the office of the Ombudsman. The complaints are very many,” said ichung’wah.

He went on to say that the CJ knows there is indeed corruption in the Judiciary and that is the main reason she has not opposed the claims.
