Even before the Supreme Court Judge’s ink that signed and declared a section of the Finance Act 2023 illegal dries up, the National Assembly has today been treated to fireworks after President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance sought to introduce another Controversial Conflict of Interest Bill which the Opposition has termed as an attempt by the Govt to launch a witch Hunt on the former Govt Officials.
In the Video Seen by this writer, Kikuyu Member of Parliament Hon Kimani Ichungwa is seen and heard wondering why the Opposition MPs led by Rarienda Member of Parliament Hon Otiende Amollo are opposing the Bill that is meant to bring Sanity and integrity in Government Offices.According to Kimani Ichungwa, the Conflict of Interest Bill isn’t meant to be used for political scores but, is meant to prevent the current Office holders from using their relatives to loot public Money.
But the timing of the Bill, according to MPs from the Opposition, is wanting bearing in Mind that Deputy President Hon Riggy G during the weekend vowed to engineer a plan that will see the looters of the public resources as well as State Capture Culprits Known.
