The former Chief Justice’s criticism of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s methods of running the country continues to deepen the rift between the court and the executive. Recall that the same Chief Justice declared the 2017 general election to be invalid due to an unlawful process, so nullifying the presidential election.

As the election campaign began anew, the nation was plunged into chaos due to the chief justice’s decision. Following Raila Odinga’s withdrawal from the race for personal reasons, the Jubilee party was guided into office.

As a result, the former prime minister declared himself the president of the people, ignoring the Jubilee Party’s victory. After several months of turmoil, the country became calmer when Uhuru Kenyatta decided to shake hands with Raila Odinga, who refused to accept the loss in 2018.

According to reports, former Chief Justice David Maraga Uhuru Kenyatta started to ignore some of the court’s concerns.

He was therefore unable to perform his courtly responsibilities and was compelled to place the blame on Uhuru.

As a result, CJ Maraga did not recall Uhuru Kenyatta positively, but rather as a president who flouted the law.
