KTN’s news Anchor Mary Kilobi Atwoli never thought she would become a journalist. Kilobi has been a reporter for 10 years in Kenya and worked in Uganda before.
She thought that she would be a social worker or work with refugees in a camp helping the less privileged. In the relaunch of KTN, she said;
“In the beginning when I joined the university, I never thought I would be a journalist. However, one day when I was in my second semester in my second year, my lecturer came and told me that he is looking for a student who was good at Kiswahili,” she narrated.
She added that while studying at Makerere University, her lecturer alerted her that an editor at Uganda Broadcasting Company was traveling to China for three months and they were looking for someone to sit in for her while she was away.
“That’s how I found myself at UBC, without even thinking of doing journalism. Later I stayed in Uganda until I graduated. Then I embarked on my journey back home, where I joined KTN and since then, I have never left,” she said.
