Actress Nyaboke Moraa was visibly overcome with grief during the memorial service for her daughter, Marie Achieng, who passed away on July 28. The memorial, attended by family and close friends, was a poignant moment of collective mourning and celebration of Marie’s life.
As Nyaboke took the podium, accompanied by her sisters for support, the weight of her loss was palpable. Struggling to maintain composure, she began her speech by expressing the profound sorrow of losing a child. “My heart is broken. We had very beautiful memories. I don’t know how I am going to release my child. In my life, I have gone through so much,” Nyaboke tearfully shared. Her emotional struggle was evident as she fought to keep her tears at bay.
Nyaboke, best known for her role in “Tahidi High,” reflected on the strength and encouragement Marie provided her throughout their lives. “Whenever I felt done, Marie would encourage me. I am yet to come to terms with the fact that Marie is no more,” she said, her voice breaking. The grief of having to say goodbye to her beloved daughter was overwhelming, and Nyaboke admitted she could not find the words to adequately express her pain.
During the service, Marie’s friends also paid tribute to her. Debra, a childhood friend, described Marie as a warm and humorous person. She recounted their early friendship, which began on Marie’s first day at school and continued through their years together. Debra praised Nyaboke and her husband for their nurturing care and for being loving parents. “Marie’s sense of humor and warmth were the cornerstones of our friendship. Her parents did an incredible job raising her,” Debra noted.
The memorial also highlighted the impact of Marie’s life on those around her, offering a glimpse into the love and support that surrounded her. Despite the deep sorrow, the gathering celebrated Marie’s life and the cherished memories she left behind.
Nyaboke Moraa’s heartfelt tribute to her daughter, though cut short by her overwhelming grief, was a moving testament to the love between mother and child and the profound sense of loss felt by her family.
