Kenyan artiste David Mathenge alias Nameless has advised parents to be open enough and teach their kids about sexuality at every opportunity they get.
According to the father of two, doing so ensures that kids do no get confused and end up joining the wrong crowd.
‘I had my first boyfriend in campus,’ Kamene Goro reveals
Through his social media platform he said,
‘AS A FATHER OF GALZ I HAVE DECIDED TO CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT THAT ALLOWS MY DAUGHTERS TO TELL ME ANYTHING WITHOUT FEAR OF JUDGMENT, ESPECIALLY MY FIRSTBORN @TUMI.MATHENGE WHO IS A TEENAGER. I WANT HER TO BE ABLE TO TALK TO ME ABOUT ANYTHING , INCLUDING QUESTIONS ON SEXUALITY , SO THAT SHE DOES NOT GET CONFUSED BY THE PEER PRESSURE THAT COMES WITH THAT AGE.’
Adding,
‘I BELIEVE TEENAGERS SHOULD ABSTAIN FROM SEX FOR MANY REASONS BUT IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THEY TRULY UNDERSTAND THE REASONS SO THAT THEY MAKE THAT CHOICE THEMSELVES. PARENTS OF TEENAGERS TUKO PAMOJA ????.. LET’S FIND WAYS TO SHARE OUR EXPERIENCES AND HELP EACH OTHER BRING UP A WELL ROUNDED GENERATION…#BABAGALZ ??? #ADOLEMANENOZ #TUJULISHANE #PARENTINGZ??’
Most Africans consider taking to their kids about sex as a taboo but it’s high time they did.
This would go a long way in preventing teenage pregnancies. Did your parents ever talk to you on matters sex?
If yes at what age did the talk happen?.
