Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has warned the public against visiting his offices to peddle rumours.
Oparanya who was addressing residents said that his doors were open and that no one should use emissaries to reach him.

“You voted for me, and while doing so, you did not cast the ballot through anybody. You did it yourself.
If you want to see me, just come to my office and I will listen to you,” Oparanya promised.
He however cautioned those who solicit money from residents on pretext that they can arrange a meeting with the governor.
“I know that someone will come to you and tell you he is close to the governor and that he or she can help solve your problems.
They then come with empty promises that they have presented your request to the governor and ask you to buy them tea.
These thugs exist,” warned the governor. The governor asked those planning to pay him a visit to be brief and straight to the point to avoid keeping others waiting.
“When you come to the office, don’t come with many stories, when you just want fare back home. Just go straight to the point to save other people’s time. Other people want to see me too,” he said.
“I leave the office as late as 11pm due to the engagements I have with wananchi who queue to see me. I have always ensured that I meet anyone who comes to see me.”
He cautioned the locals not to be misled by selfish politicians as the period of politicking is over.
