Gospel artiste Wahu Mathenge has advised fathers to show their kids love at a tender age so that they do not go looking for it in the wrong places.
According to the mother of two, knowing that she was deeply loved helped her not to fall into wrong hands seeking love and validation.
Taking to her social media she wrote
‘A NOTE TO FATHERS/FATHER FIGURES OF GIRLS: I REMEMBER THIS LITTLE GIRL ? SHE HAD HER FAIR SHARE OF CHALLENGES, BUT THE ONE THING SHE KNEW WITHOUT A DOUBT, WAS THAT SHE HAD HER DADDY’S FULL ATTENTION. (SWIPE TO SEE MY PAPA WHO’S NOW IN HEAVEN ??) WE OFTEN TOOK RANDOM WALKS, TALKED ABOUT BOYS I LIKED, WHY I LIKED THEM AND SOMETIMES HE EVEN INVITED THEM OVER FOR A MEAL. WITH THE BENEFIT OF HINDSIGHT, I REALIZED AS A TEENAGER I DIDN’T NEED ATTENTION FROM BOYS OR MEN, BECAUSE I KNEW ? I HAD THE ATTENTION OF THE PRIMARY MALE IN MY LIFE. AND THAT WAS ENOUGH. I WAS HARD PREY FOR BOYS/MEN WHO WERE AFTER SE3 COZ I DIDN’T NEED TO PEOPLE PLEASE OR “FIT IN” I ALREADY KNEW I WAS A QUEEN! DAD TOLD ME AND SHOWED ME SO!’

DEAR DADS/FATHER FIGURES OF YOUNG GIRLS, SAVE YOUR DAUGHTER TROUBLE IN HER TEENAGE YEARS. SPEND TIME WITH HER. LET HER HAVE NO DOUBT THAT SHE’S A YOUNG QUEEN ?. TO HER, YOUR TIME IS MORE VALUABLE THAN YOUR MONEY. YOU’LL BE AMAZED AT THE CONFIDENT YOUNG GIRL SHE WILL BLOSSOM INTO AND WILL NOT BE CONFUSED BY BOYS UNTIL SHE’S GOOD AND READY.
Although Wahu lost her father a few years ago, she still feels his love and affection and she has managed to pass that to her kids.
