Politician Betty Maina, a prominent figure from Mount Kenya and a close ally of President William Ruto, issued a cautionary message to opponents of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on Wednesday night.

Maina, addressing the aftermath of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment by the Senate, urged Gachagua’s supporters to avoid celebrating prematurely.

In her message, Maina pointed out that some of Gachagua’s followers have been exaggerating the significance of the Senate’s decision.

She advised them to hold off on any celebrations until they fully understand the implications of the recent developments. According to her, the impeachment may lead to Gachagua assuming different, and potentially more significant, roles in the future.

Maina emphasized the uncertainty surrounding the situation, suggesting that the political landscape could shift rapidly.

In a social media post, she commented, “When I read today’s people’s updates and imagine the kind of posts they will be updating tomorrow at the same time, I am left with no option but to sleep.” Her remarks imply that the current excitement over Gachagua’s impeachment may be misplaced or premature.

Her cautionary stance highlights the complex and unpredictable nature of Kenyan politics, where alliances and power dynamics can change swiftly.

Maina’s message serves as a reminder to Gachagua’s supporters and political observers alike to remain patient and wait for further developments before drawing conclusions.
