Political Commentator Herman Manyora has expressed his concerns after the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance Camp announced a people’s baraza on Tuesday June 27th at Kamukunji Grounds.
The move was announced by the Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua, who while flanked by other Azimio leaders said the camp will engage the people on the next course of action after MPs passed the Finance Bill 2023.
The team has earlier threatened of mass action should the bill pass without amendments, with most of their leaders criticizing President William Ruto’s move to push for the 1.5 per cent housing tax and the increase of VAT on fuel from 8 per cent to 16 per cent.
Through his You Tube Channel on Saturday, Manyora said, “I am a sad man because we are at it again. We want to test fate after the Azimio Camp have called a Kamukunji meeting on Tuesday.”
“We are aware of what follows these kind of meetings. We are also aware that mass action is not good for this country, yet here is where we find ourselves yet again.”
“I do not want to blame Raila and the Azimio camp. This is not the time to say who is right and who is wrong. It bears no fruits to look for blame. I want to remind our politicians that God do not like stupid people.”
“Every time we have mass action, the country gets closer to destruction. We have achieved a lot through mass action and pressure such as the second liberation and the 2010 Constitution among other achievements. However, we have not come this far to allow minor issues destroy our country. We can sit on the table and talk,” said the University of Nairobi lecturer.
