Joyce Gituro is one of the most celebrated journalists in Kenya even though she left the media space some years ago. She is a single mom of three children, she was once married but became single after her husband left.
Speaking in an interview with Lynn Ngugi, Gituro revealed that the breakup with her husband had a major negative impact on her because it is something she never expected.
That her ex husband is the one who brought her closer to God because he was a preacher but later on he came with some church beliefs that she didn’t agree with, which made him pack everything in the house and left.
The mother of three said, “Some church came up, he took me to it but luckily I had the spirit of discernment that made me know it was not right. I told him no. Unfortunately he didn’t agree with me so he left.
Joyce revealed that when her husband left she faced a lot of criticism for being a single mother and lost most of her friends. That she was broken and at some point became angry at God but she later prayed and asked for forgiveness and she is now proud to be called a single mother.
She said, “It is very hard to have been married, became saved and known God on a deeper way, and then my former husband who used to save people through his preaching, lead people to God and many people admiring me for being with a man of God, but later he leaves me. I never imagined we would ever separate because I thought our marriage was ordained by God. I got angry with God but I later asked for His forgiveness and I really cried… I can proudly say I’m a single mother. I wasn’t born for that title but that is what I acquired in life but it was not my plan. But where it has gotten, I’m proud to be a single mother doing great things single-handedly.”
