Shock has landed in Nyamira County again after another dead body was retrieved in a pit latrine after its walls collapsed while a person was still inside digging out soil while deepening the toilet.

Mr. Obonyo, a resident of Nyamira County, was on his daily hustle of digging a pit latrine for one of the residents of Nyamira when the incident occurred.

Unfortunately, any attempt to safeguard him reached a dead end when the environment became inhospitable for him resulting in his death.

A huge bunch of soil covered Mr. Obonyo when the brims of the hold lost its grip and descended on him reaping him off of oxygen.

Villagers from the neighborhood of Mr. Obonyo endured the frigid temperature, milling around the home on top of a hill, to witness as Moraa’s body was retrieved.

Several instances of similar cases have been happening in the areas of Kisii County and Nyamira County.

Nyamira and Kisii Counties are covered by loose soils, loose-grained soils, which easily lose their grip when it comes into direct contact with water.

Moreover, Nyamira counties are among the few populous regions in Kenya which commercialize the production of Tea leaves and bananas.
