Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and his political rival President William Samoei Ruto on Saturday shared a podium in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo capital, where the duo attended the inauguration ceremony of DRC president Felix Tshikedi.

President William Samoei Ruto and the retired President Uhuru Kenyatta have not been seeing each other eye to eye since the handing over of power at the Kasarani International Stadium back in September 2022.

According to photos from the inauguration ceremony of DRC president Felix Tshikedi, President William Samoei Ruto sitted in the front sit while retired President Uhuru Kenyatta could be seen sitted at the back sit, a few metrs from President William Samoei Ruto.

It is not clear whether the two leaders met behind the scenes. Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta attended the event in his capacity as the East Africa Community facilitator for peace. He has been championing for peace in the DRC, negotiating for ceasefire between the two fighting groups.

On the other hand, President William Samoei Ruto attended the event in his capacity as the Kenyan president. He was accompanied by Foreign Cabinet Secretary and also Prime Cabinet Secretary, Hon Musalia Mudavadi.

Uhuru Kenyatta elicited mixed reactions on Friday after he was captured landing from Ugandan chartered plane. He was acampanied by Uganda Vice president Hon Alupo.
