An historical moment has been made in Kericho after President Ruto made a decision of renaming Kericho Green Stadium after Kiprugut Chumo who was the first Kenyan to win an Olympic medal.
According to the video shared, Ruto claimed that it was an honour to rename the stadium after Chumo who unfortunately died last year at the age of 84 as a sign of patriotism having raised Kenyan flag high during his time. This caught the Kericho residents by surprise as the made crazy cheers as a sign of acceptance, the stadium will now be called Kiprugut Chumo stadium following President Ruto’s order.
“Allow me to celebrate Kiprugut Chumo, the first Kenyan to win an Olympic medal by renaming this Kericho Green Stadium after him Andi think he deserves it,” President Ruto said sending the crowd wild as they made crazy cheers.
This year’s Mashujaa celebration has happened in Kericho county as the country is planning on the county that will be hosting it again next year.
