The cabinet secretary for roads Kipchumba murkomen has expressed his displeasure about the sentiments made by Nandi senator Samson cherargei Who opined that local contractors should be given a priority while awarding contracts.
“I hear that some people are saying that they want to bring people from other communities to be contractors. Give our children the priority of being contractors because if we don’t teach our children to be strong contractors, we won’t be competitive.” said cherargei.
Reacting to the comments, the CS warned that cherargei’s philosophy was regressive and Could he detrimental to the community in the long run.
According to murkomen,Every Kenyans has a right to work everywhere provided they deliver on the assignments.
“What about our people whom we have given bog contracts Owing billions and are in central and Mombasa? Do you want them to be chased yo come home? As your teacher, I have brains and a plan”, the CS said adding that could Ruto have reasoned like cherargei, he wouldn’t have become president.

However, others opined that the only problem with the senator is that he Speaks his mind While others don’t speak but end up perpetuating tribalism.
Below are the screenshots of the reactions online.
Mwando:This is where our NFD brothers get it wrong… i see them all over central doing tenders… so maybe we should say dont do a single contract here ( even if you are talented and very liquid. )now this is wisdom @kipmurkomen … this is the only way.
360: But still reasons like him! Difference is one is loud in words & silent in actions.. the other one, loud in actions and silent in words! Serekali ni yenu fanyeni venue mnajiskia.
Oduor: The problem is that William seems to have employed that same reasoning after he miraculously got installed president
