Daniel Foote, the ex-US special envoy to Haiti, has warned that sending Kenyan troops to combat gangs in Haiti might not succeed.

He believes the mission could fail and suggests that Haiti requires a more effective intervention. He stated that Kenya is a third-world country lacking the capability to deliver.

His remarks have sparked mixed reactions from Kenyans with a section of them siding with Daniel Foote while others criticizing the remarks by the ex-US special envoy to Haiti.

For instance, Mutua reacted to the remarks saying that Kenya is a safer country to live in than the US. His opinion was shaped by the mass shootings and racially motivated killings being experienced in the US

“How many mass shootings have happened in the US this year alone? How many racially motivated killings have happened in the US this year alone? Bruh has no idea that it is massively safer for life in Kenya than in the US.” Mr Mutua stated.

Fabias sided with Mutua alleging that US being a first world country is unable to keep its streets safe claiming that in 2022 alone, 45, 222 gun deaths were reported.

“He’s right but USA is a first word country and in 2022 alone there were 45,222 gun deaths. Seems they can’t keep their streets safe either.”

Another Kenyans reminded the former US envoy to Haiti that they have failed in containing the situation in Haiti as well as in Kansa city despite them being first world nation.

“The former US Envoy to Haiti should be reminded that, US being a first world country, their police has failed to protect the lives of Kansa city residents as well as unable to contain the situations in Haiti. Indeed US has betrayed their home continent country(Haiti).” One Kenyan remarked.

However, a section of Kenyans agreed with the ex-US Envoy to Haiti acknowledging that Kenya is a third world country and unable to keep Haiti safe. For instance, one Kenyan opined that Kenya’s police can’t control Haiti.

“It is not a lie, our police can’t manage these people.” Another Kenyan opined.

Cleophas on the other hand stated that if Kenya has failed to eradicate banditry, then they won’t manage to stabilise Haiti.

“Kenya has failed to deal with Banditry can’t manage to hold Haiti.” Cleophas remarked.

Another Kenyans backed the remarks by the former US envoy to Haiti saying that he said the truth. He asserted that Nairobi Governor Sakaja recent remarks urging cops to help him secure Nairobi shows our incapability to handle Haiti.

“The guy said the truth. We are indeed 3rd world and governor Sakaja even asks cops to help him secure Nairobi.” Another Kenyan said.
