Daddy Owen, a celebrated gospel musician, posted a thought-provoking message on X (formerly Twitter). His post was about those people who spend Christmas in Nairobi. His tweet read, “Watu wamuendangi ocha wakati wa Christmas, hua mnafanya nini Nairobi?” (People don’t go to your home village during Christmas, what do you do in Nairobi?)
The post sparked a variety of responses from his followers, with many sharing their personal experiences and thoughts on how Christmas is celebrated in urban settings compared to more traditional or rural areas. Here is a screenshot of some of the comments:
On December 25th, Daddy Owen was very sad about the loss of his friend Ken. Ken passed away in a road accident. Owen shared his sadness on social media. He talked about how Ken had planned to visit him for Christmas. “Last year, I visited my friend Philip in Kisii and met his brother Ken. We became close, and this year, they were planning to come to Kakamega,” Owen wrote.
Sadly, Ken lost his life in the Suswa accident. Daddy Owen saw pictures of the crash online and was deeply affected. “My heart sank when I saw the pictures. I couldn’t believe Ken was gone. My condolences go out to his family,” Owen said. Ken died in a crash involving multiple vehicles at Matauro, Narok County. He worked as the Head of Procurement at the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA).
