The High Court of Kenya has Thursday afternoon ordered officials and the Executive Committee of Athletics Kenya (AK) to vacate office, to pave the way for the federation’s elections.
The officials, led by president Jackson Tuwei have further been barred from seeking fresh mandate, having continuously served for eight years as provided for in the Sports Act 2013.
The latest development culminates a longstanding lawsuit by athletes, led by Moses Tanui, Wilson Boit and Mary Chemweno.
In his ruling, Justice Lawrence Mugambi also directed AK to review its constitution within 90 days, as a precursor to the ordered elections.
