There was heavy security presence as Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua made his way to Gichugu constituency in Kirinyaga County for the funeral of his former high school principal.
As he stood along the way to acknowledge greetings from the enthusiastic crowd in Kutus town, the red- bereted GSU officers stood on guard to ensure maximum security for the country’s number two.
Gichugu constituency is the home of Narc leader and former Azimio la Umoja coalition presidential running mate, Martha Karua.
In the absence of President William Ruto who is now on his second day of the USA tour, DP Gachagua is in-charge.
Though he may not be having all the constitutional powers to execute the roles of the President, but the DP has stopped in for Dr Ruto.
