All the teachers in Kenya are now set to receive a salary increment of between 7%-10% after successful negotiations between the teachers service commission and the teachers union Kenya union of teachers and Kenya union of post primary school teachers.
The parties have also agreed to amend the 2021/2025 CBA to protect teachers from new statutory deductions and the high cost of living.
However a group of teachers who are categorized under cluster 4 are the main beneficiaries of this plan as their house allowance has been harmonized and will be paid in two financial year.
Teachers service commission chief executive officer Dr Nancy Njeri Macharia.
Apart from that, the teachers service commission and the unions have also discussed on how to improve the terms and conditions of service of a teacher.
The teachers service commission has also notified the teachers that it has finalized the promotion of over 14,000 teachers by August 2023.
Another group of 36,275 are set to be promoted and the vacancies have already been advertised.
This will improve the performance of the teachers since they will be motivated to work.
