A 70-year-old grandmother is on the verge of being separated from her grandson after  estranged father obtained custody of the child.

Millicent Wambui Mugi is embroiled in a bitter tussle with the estranged American father of her grandson over the custody of a minor aged seven.

Mrs Mugi says in 2019, her daughter, the minor’s mother, relocated to Kenya after her boyfriend Claude Allen Dary abandoned her with her son.

She said that the middle-aged man then went back to live in his mother’s house, which she considered that was unusual.

Superiority Influence:

The woman decries Claude’s influence as an employee of a Federal Emergency Management Agency, citing that he has used the same influence to fraudulently gain custody of the child home he had abandoned.

“My grievance is that he is using the superpower mentality and invoking Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to intimidate Kenyan judiciary and ultimately get the ruling in his favor, “She said.

She decries the perennial intimidation from purported US embassy officials who have since been frequenting her residence to ‘inspect’ the minor’s welfare.

The woman had applied for a certificate of urgency to have the High Court supervise the magistrate court that was to hear and determine her application to be granted custody of her grandson.

The High Court judge, Justice Erick Ogolla, however, made a ruling on her application days after the magistrate court had already made that her grandson be flown back to the US.

She added that the contested child was neglected by his father, and wedding plans were canceled which prompted her to get her daughter a flight ticket to return to Kenya.

Counter Accusations

Contrary to Claude’s averment that they obtained a Kenyan birth certificate for his son without his consent, Wambui states that the minor was registered as a Kenyan citizen upon Claude’s request to have the son have dual citizenship for both the US and Kenya.

The woman also alleged that Claude, during his visit to Kenya, assaulted the contested child in Mombasa Hotel and would also engage in a bitter altercation in the presence of the minor

“He would openly shout in front of the child until I asked him to have respect for my family especially an elder like me, even though he might not agree with my daughter but when he is in my house he must show respect.”Mrs Mugi added.

She added that for the entire period Claude visited Kenya, she paid for all his bills, including taking him for a holiday at a luxurious beach hotel in Mombasa.

She further alleged that Claude is American of Haiti origin and that the minor might be taken to troubled Haiti so that she may not reunite with her grandson

Ghetto Radio radio could not independently verify the allegations as efforts to reach Claude through phone calls and messages were futile.
