Government through the cabinet secretary for Interior and National Administration Professor Kithure Kindiki has now ordered for immediate transfer of all police officers who have served in one station for more than 3 years starting this morning without fail.
Kindiki has lamented that some junior police officers have served in one station for even upto 15 years, noting that such officers have incorporated in the said society, forming unholy alliances with the locals that threaten the security of the said areas.
Kindiki opined that officers who have stayed in one station for too long even have married , started businesses in the said areas and even due to their familiarity with area go to extend of insubordination to their bosses who are new in the said areas.
He argued that the stagnation in one station for long only affects the junior officers but not officers in the command.
Kindiki has said that starting this morning, the 3 year police will take effect and that the Chief Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome has been directed to comply with this order from the government.
