The government was reportedly prompted to quickly deploy police commandos drawn from the anti-terror unit after high-level ambassadors were trapped inside a Nairobi hotel.

According to reports, the incident happened after neighbours to the hotel protested of noise coming from the hotel. They all barricaded the hotel’s entrance, forcing the ambassadors who were among the guests at the hotel to stay inside for hours.

One of the residents told Kenyans.co.ke that his son was sick at night and couldn’t sleep due to the noise coming from the hotel.

“My son told me that it was all noise throughout the night. My neighbour also complained that the child was sick and had been crying all night and was affected by the noise,” one tenant said.

In a statement issued by the hotel’s management, the chaos endangered the lives of many guests. Based on the profile of the hotel, the incident could have exposed many visitors to serious security threat.

“This blockade not only endangered the lives of our esteemed guests but also posed a severe security threat, given the high profile nature of the attendees, read part of the statement from the hotel.
