Kirinyaga county governor Anne Waiguru has been critisized over the Violence witnessed in Kerugoya in which the Women Representative Njeri Maina was attacked by goons.

The incident has since been taken to the National Assembly and the leader of Minority in the Assembly Hon Opiyo Wandayi, demanded has demanded that the Kirinyaga county governor be summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations over the attack.
The disgruntled Ugunja Constituency member of parliament claimed that the Kirinyaga county governor is responsible for the attacks. According to him, Waiguru must have hired goons who attacked the youthful member of parliament.
Wandayi demanded that the governor be summoned immediately and if possible be taken to court over the attack on the lawmaker.
According to Wandayi, they can not sit back and watch as violence happens in the country. The member of parliament noted that despite their differences in politics and ideologies, violence must just be condemned no matter what.
The youthful Lawmaker was attacked while she was on a meet-the-people tour in Kerugoya town.
During the incident, she was confronted by a group of thugs who attempted to prevent her from addressing the public.
Ms Maina was accompanied by David Mathenge, the Member of County Assembly for Baragwi Ward, who also got caught up in the commotion.
Both leaders managed to escape to their vehicles and were subsequently taken to Kerugoya Hospital for medical treatment. Maina was later airlifted to Nairobi for further treatment.
Despite the attack, Ms Maina expressed her determination to continue serving the people of Kirinyaga County, as they had elected her to represent them.
She emphasized her commitment to defending their rights and stated that she would not be deterred by such acts of violence.
