Jamhuri Day celebrations held by Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza at Kinoru stadium turned messy and was almost disrupted following a heckling and booing incident.

The incident happened following statements made by the Member of County Assembly for Akithi ward honourable Mwenda Ithili in his address to the gathered crowd.

When he was invited to give his keynote speech, the Member of County Assembly went offtrack and directly launched attacks at the governor who was the event’s organizer and chief guest.

The sentiments made by the Member of County Assembly were not taken lightly by the attendees of the Jamhuri celebrations who seemed to be ardent followers of the governor.

Allegedly, the MCA had hardly reached the middle of his address when the crowd realized that he was vilifying the governor who was just seated by. They could not just sit back and let the MCA continue with the onslaught against the their governor.

The crowd began making disruptive chants, shouts and heckles demanding that the MCA stops attacking the governor or leave the meeting.

The master of ceremony was forced to intervene as he called on the crowd to give the MCA ample time to give his ‘free speech’. Unfortunately, the crowd was not willing to let him continue.

Amid loud chants and booing, the defiant MCA continued addressing with less attention from the crowd.
