According to recent disclosures, political personalities Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua will benefit greatly from the full implementation of the National Dialogue Committee’s (NADCO) proposals.
NADCO has proposed the establishment of official opposition leader offices, a move that could see Raila Odinga, the current opposition leader, appoint his former running mate Martha Karua and Wiper Democratic Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as his deputies.
Pending approval by the National Assembly, these proposed positions await the green light. If approved, President William Ruto is expected to appoint Raila Odinga, Martha Karua, and Kalonzo Musyoka to their respective roles.
The committee, formed through a parliamentary resolution on August 29, was given a 60-day mandate to deliberate on key issues concerning Kenyans and present a comprehensive report.
The five-point agenda included discussions on outstanding constitutional matters, electoral justice, entrenching funds in the Constitution, establishing and entrenching state offices, and fidelity to political parties/coalitions and the laws on multiparty democracy. The proposed establishment of official opposition leader offices is among the outcomes of this deliberation.
The potential appointment of Karua and Musyoka reflects the intricate political landscape and alliances shaping up in Kenya, awaiting the official endorsement by the National Assembly.
