Residents of Kerio Valley in Marakwet East were surprised after a goat managed to escape a bandit attack by climbing a tree. The incident happened in an area where bandits often attack villages, stealing livestock and causing fear among locals.

According to witnesses, armed bandits raided a homestead in the early morning hours, aiming to steal goats and cows. As they fired gunshots to scare the villagers, the animals scattered in different directions. One goat, in an unusual survival move, climbed a tree to escape.

When the attack ended, villagers returned to assess the damage and search for missing animals. That is when they saw the goat high up in the tree. It was standing on a thick branch, appearing frightened but safe. The sight shocked many, as goats are not known for climbing trees like monkeys or leopards.

Elders in the village described the incident as rare and possibly a sign of danger or change. Some believed the goat had strong survival instincts, while others saw it as a miracle. Many people gathered to take pictures and videos of the goat, which later circulated widely on social media.

After some time, brave young men helped the goat climb down safely. It appeared unhurt but was visibly shaken. The owner, who was relieved to find it alive, carried it home with joy.
