KANU Chairman and former Baringo County Senator, Gideon Kipsielei Moi is among the key political bigwigs in the Republic of Kenya at the moment. He is the son of the second President of the Republic of Kenya, the late Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi.
In the last general elections, Moi Junior was among the key principals in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition who vehemently backed former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga for the top seat, thanks to his longtime friendship and close ties with former President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta.
As an astute leader and defender of the rights of a common man, Gideon has aired his voice regarding the current rising femicide cases. Recent days have seen the surging cases of women being butchered and killed in incidences which have been linked to love affairs.
And even as the former Senator condemned the killings, he has furthermore reached out to the state under the able leadership of President William Samoei Ruto to come out swifly in the defence of women in the country.
The remarks by Moi comes only few days after the shocking murders of of Starlet Wahu, sister to reknown televangelist Victor Kanyari and a woman now identified as Rita Waeni in Roysambu, Nairobi.
Moi pointed out that most of these gruesome murders have been perpetrated by intimate partners who ordinarily should be the protectors of the women folk.
