Gen Zs have composed a letter to their parents regarding the protest they intend to stage on August 8. The letter, which was published on the Gen Z social network on Facebook, encourages all parents to permit their children to participate in the struggle for their rights by joining others throughout Kenya without fear.
Parents, aunts, and uncles, we are aware that you have heard about Nane Nane on August 8, 2024, and we respectfully request that you refrain from expressing anxiety. We are aware that you are concerned about your children; however, instructing them to remain at home is not an appropriate course of action. Lend your offspring the strength to advocate for their future, as stated in the letter. “Observe the current state of our household; the cost of food, steam, and water is exorbitant, and we continue to make daily loan payments.
The majority of us are managing to survive on a single meal per day. “Is this the life we desire for our families?” read a portion of the Gen Z letter. Gen Z advised the parents to permit their sons and daughters to participate in a protest in the Nairobi CBD on Thursday, August 8, in order to advocate for their rights.
Gen Zs also encouraged parents to send fare to those who are not in Nairobi, stating that this is a way to support and encourage them in their endeavours. The letter requested that parents disseminate this message to all individuals in Kenya via social media platforms such as Twitter, WhatsApp, and Facebook in order to ensure that it reaches a significant number of parents and young people prior to the event.
