Gatwiri, a social media entertainer who was mostly known for her thick Meru accent died two weeks ago, and her shocking death created room for speculations as to what may have transpired.
Following her demise, speculations were rife that it could have been as a result of being in a toxic relationship, being depressed, poisoning, or a short illness that could not be substantiated. A postmortem report helped slow down the speculations, by ascertaining that Gatwiri died from positional asphyxia with brain oedema, as explained further in the image below.
Since poisoning reports had taken over as the main reason for her death, a full toxicology was promised to be carried out. Days later, one of Gatwiri’s aunt going by Facebook name Rachel Maina posted on a Facebook group called Meru mum’s business forum, seeking to clear the air regarding her niece’s demise. She maintained that Gatwiri had died of poisoning, and the autopsy showed that the last food she ate was chicken. The aunt also mentioned that some pieces of chicken take-away were found in her house.
What they couldn’t establish was whether Gatwiri had bought the food herself or someone had brought her. She went on to deny rumours that Gatwiri was epileptic, and that she was not in a toxic relationship. She also mentioned that as a family, they don’t expect to get justice from a corrupt system, but God will avenge Gatwiri’s death for them. Gatwiri is set to be buried tomorrow, Friday. Her family and celebrities have been lobbying for funds from well-wishers online to help give Gatwiri a befitting sendoff.
