There was little activity at constituency offices in the North Rift region on the second day of public participation in DP Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment motion.
Few people turned up at the constituency offices which however remained open for the exercise.
Those who turned up were allowed to sign the public views template forms which had been distributed in all areas.
At the Soy constituency office, an officer said they opened the office at 8 am but by 11 am, less than 10 people had turned up to sign the forms.
A resident Paul Kimely who signed the form however complained that Saturday was not a convenient day for such an exercise.
“Such an exercise should be held on a working day and not Saturday when people have other social engagements and it is also a sabbath day for Adventists who can not engage in other activities other than church,” said Kimely.
Area MP David Kiplagat was not seen at the constituency office.
Uasin Gishu police commander Benjamin Mwanthi said security teams had been deployed in all areas to ensure the exercise went on smoothly.
“So far we have not had reports of any incidents in the county,” said Mwanthi.
A spot-check in Turbo, Ainabkoi, Kesses, Mosop, Aldai, Kwanza and Cheranganyi showed few people turned up at the constituency offices.
