Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has lifted the lid on some of the happenings that were taking place in the Azimio La Umoja coalition before last year’s poll.
He claims that there were plans to jail him if President William Ruto lost, alleging that the suggestion was that he be locked in Kamiti.
But he has said that he would have also ended up in King’ong’o, according to the wishes of one of the big figures within the Raila Odinga-led coalition.
āAnd another man said I should be taken to Kingāongāo prison, which is closer, and people will bring me porridge,ā he said in Mathira on Friday.
He also suggested that he was to be locked away and separated from the rest of the world, such that even people would not be allowed to visit him.
He made the remarks while thanking Mathira people for supporting Ruto, saying that had Raila won, he would be serving his fifth month in detention.
āIf it were not for your votes, I would not have become the deputy president. I would have been in Kamiti cooling the porridge. It would have been my fifth month as a convict. I am not sure if you would have paid me a visit,” added the DP.
