Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged the government to stop sending a car and an intelligence officer to follow him.
Gachagua claimed that on Wednesday, the officer followed him from Nairobi to Kalawa Ward in Mbooni Constituency, Makueni County, where he attended a burial. The distance between Nairobi and the area is nearly 200 kilometers.
In a statement, Gachagua criticized the move, saying the resources used could be redirected to more productive tasks to enhance national security. He argued that it was unnecessary to waste fuel and working hours on surveillance.
Gachagua alleged that the officer’s deployment was part of an effort to monitor his activities. He suggested that instead of assigning officers to follow him, the government could save money by stationing personnel in Makueni to record his speeches and share them with the authorities.
This comes as Gachagua, once a powerful figure in the government, continues to voice criticism against the administration.
