National Assembly Speaker Amason Kingi has ruled in favor of including responses from various state agencies in the ongoing case involving Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The case, which has drawn widespread attention, is focused on financial claims tied to Gachagua’s dealings.

Speaker Kingi clarified that the documents provided by the state agencies would not be treated as new evidence but as supplementary information to reinforce already existing claims.

These agencies, including the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), have submitted their responses regarding the ongoing investigation.

The inclusion of these documents has been viewed as a blow to Gachagua’s defense team, which had earlier raised concerns about the introduction of new evidence at this stage.

However, Kingi emphasized that the material provided merely serves to support the arguments already made before the National Assembly.

This decision is expected to shift the dynamics of the case, as the evidence submitted by state agencies could strengthen the claims of those pursuing financial accountability against the Deputy President.

It remains to be seen how Gachagua’s team will respond in the coming days.
