Pastor Teresia Wairimu, a prominent religious leader and close friend to First Lady Rachel Ruto, has delivered a sharp rebuke to Kenya’s current political leadership. Speaking during a recent church service, the pastor expressed her deep disappointment in the country’s leaders, accusing them of betraying the trust of the electorate and the church.

“We voted for you to perform, not to steal, fight each other, and embarrass us,” Pastor Teresia stated, in an apparent reference to the ongoing infighting and allegations of corruption within the government. The pastor, who has maintained close ties with the First Family, did not hold back as she addressed the growing discontent among Kenyans over the government’s failure to fulfill its campaign promises.

Pastor Teresia had previously prayed for both President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during the 2022 general elections, offering her blessings as they campaigned for the country’s top leadership positions. However, her recent remarks suggest that her faith in their leadership has been tested.

She warned that leaders must change course or face the consequences in the next general elections. “Don’t arm yourselves as if you’re going to war,” she cautioned, urging politicians to stop engaging in divisive and confrontational tactics. According to her, leaders must prioritize service to the people, not personal gains or political battles.

The pastor did not shy away from issuing a stark warning ahead of the 2027 elections. “Come 2027, some will go home,” she said, predicting that many of the leaders currently in power may find themselves voted out if they continue neglecting the interests of the electorate.

Her message struck a chord with many Kenyans, who share her frustrations. Pastor Teresia’s remarks have triggered widespread discussions, with many seeing her words as a much-needed call for reflection and accountability among Kenya’s political elite.
