She is one of the highest ranking female soldiers in the Kenya Defence Forces today. As one of the few women Brigadiers in the country, Brigadier Elizabeth Omollo is a trailblazer.
From a high school teacher in Nyamira, Brigadier Omollo joined the military in 1997 when she was commissioned as second lieutenant. And from there, she has never looked back.
In 2021, owing to her training as a teacher, Brigadier Omollo was posted to the National Defence University-Kenya and appointed as director of examinations.
She holds a Bachelor of Education (Arts) Degree from Moi University, Masters in Business Administration (Strategic Management) from the University of Nairobi and Masters of Arts in International Security and Strategy (ISS) form King’s College London (KCL), United Kingdom (UK). She is also a graduate of the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS), UK.
Her last position before assuming current role was Colonel Plans and Programmes International Peace Support Training Centre ( IPSTC).
Brigadier Omollo had previously held various instructional and education positions at the International Peace Support Training Centre, including that of directing staff, head of curriculum and head of education and training.
The powerful Kenya Air Force soldier had also served as officer in-charge of education at Moi Airbase, Eastleigh and officer in-charge of personnel at MAB.
Brigadier Omollo had also at one point served as the Aide-de-camp to the assistant chief of General Staff in-charge of logistics and personnel.
During her successful journey in the military, Brigadier Omollo has also been part of the peacekeeping missions in various parts of Africa, including the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique.
