Senior NTV news anchor Frida Mwaka has replied to repeated questions about why she never wears her wedding ring. In an interview with Brian Obuya, the Swahili journalist discussed her rise to fame and thanked those who helped her along the way.
Frida Mwaka discusses keeping her marriage covert. She also denied reports that she and her co-anchor, Lofty Matambo, are romantically involved, praising their friendship. When asked why she doesn’t have her wedding band, she replied, “Rings get lost. Rings cause allergies. Who said we all have to wear rings? I often say, “Let everyone sweep their own places.” Once you’ve finished cleaning your own house, go collect some trash, pour it, and start cleaning again.
Most of the time, individuals are interested in other people’s private life. This is not a terrible thing. But I’ve never come out and said, “This is my husband, and these are my children.” Frida also stated that she has reasons for keeping her marriage life private while being in the public eye.
“My family and I are fine.” And if it’s something I’ve never brought before your eyes, I’m not sure why you all want to know,” she said. She refuted allegations that journalists cannot maintain marriages, stating that many journalists enjoy marriages.
