Fresh details have now emerged on how some members of parliament from the Mt Kenya region tried to overthrow president William Ruto from power during the intense protests experienced on June 25. According to Laikipia East Member of Parliament Hon Mwangi Kiunjuri, the invasion of Parliament was planned by some politicians who wanted to see Ruto thrown out of office.
Kiunjuri has said that the four MPs hired protesters who were close to 20000 and ordered them to march to parliament and vandalized it. Two if the MPs are from Azimio and one had been promised a gubernatorial seat if the plan worked.
Kiunjuri then said that he is happy Raila has joined the government. He said that it was not Ruto who invited Raila to the government but the people of Mt Kenya.
“UPDATE: MP Mwangi Kiunjuri now says the invasion of parliament was a well coordinated plan by senior Mount Kenya govt official who sponsored over 20,000 protestors with aim of overthrowing the govt.
Kiunjuri says people were paid and brought to overthrow government… Two Azimio MPs also brought 10,000 people and one of them is told by one of their people in government that he will be made Nairobi Governor
He applauds Raila for joining President Ruto, says It is not Ruto who has looked for Raila. It is them, as Mt Kenya, who have looked for Raila.” Marigiri write in Facebook.
