She is one of the key advisors of President William Ruto who could be on the chopping block as the Head of State reorganizes his government which has been accused of incompetence.

A week ago, the President fired his entire cabinet, including Attorney General Justin Muturi. Only Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi survived the axe.

After the underperforming CS, the President is now said to be turning his gun on his top advisors.

One of the biggest casualties in this radical government shake up is his commodities market development advisor, Phyllis Kandie.

Kandie was appointed to the position in 2023 after the end of her stint as Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the European Union with concurrent accreditation to Belgium, NATO and Luxembourg.

Prior to her appointment as an ambassador in 2018, she served in the first Government of former President Uhuru Kenyatta as East Africa Community Cabinet Secretary, the position she held for five years.

The 59- year old former CS is a holder of a Bachelor of Commerce degree from St Mary’s University, Canada and two masters degrees from Durham University, United Kingdom.

If Ruto today decides to release the trigger, then Kandie will end up becoming one of the biggest casualties of the sweeping changes in the Kenya Kwanza administration.
